Ghana no longer exports logs and is working hard to increase its exports of processed wood. Over recent years notable increases have been in plywood, sliced veneer and mouldings. The EU remains the largest buyer of Ghana's timber products followed by the USA, but there are many other markets in Asia, Middle East, Africa and Australasia. Around fifty countries import wood products from Ghana.

Wood is Ghana's third largest export and a key provider of income for Government, industry and workers. A healthy, sustainable timber and forestry sector provides jobs and income and assists in Ghana's focus on poverty alleviation.
